The chart shows some of our early web traffic. One of the first things we did was to add Google analytics to the website. Build-a-web-shop makes this a fairly painless process by providing a site tracking section. Cut and paste code from Google analytics to this area and voila' you have site analytics. We actually like to do this for our clients so we have access to the analytics as well. In this way we can help them in their marketing efforts.
Adding a Google Site Map is usually something relegated to an SEO company because it can be a little technical in nature. This is not the case relative to Build-a-Web-Shop. By the way, this website is built on exactly the same platform that our clients buy. Anyway, we the process for submitting a site-map to Google is integrated into the web marketing features and specifically under the "Power tools" section.
So we did that today. I also noticed that Google has indexed another page: "Pay Pal Shopping Cart" but curiously, the home page is still not showing up in the Google Cache. I'm not too worried, it's just an interesting point.
Between last night and this morning I submitted this site to a lot of search engines and directories aside from the major ones. I used WebCEO because I have a licensed version of that software. I think you can submit even with the free version. A lot of the sites seem to be in a foreign language, but hey - I'll take the links anyway.
I also went to www.isubmit.com. This site charges $50 for automatic submissions but also offers a one month free trial. I went ahead and ran the free trial, got the first months submissions in and then cancelled the subscription. It can't hurt, but I'm not so sure how much it will help either. The site resubmits to the same set of search engines every month. I'm not sure this is worth $50 monthly. But the process was quick and painless and cancelling was just as easy. No harm no fowl...they must get a lot of this frankly.
